The Big School’s Birdwatch 2017

Over the next few weeks the children will be getting involved in the Big School’s Birdwatch 2017 organised by the RSPB.

The Big School’s Birdwatch is a simple activity to help young children learn and understand the world around them through their outdoor area. The activity itself only takes one hour and is rich in links to the early years curriculum. The children will participate in small groups for an allotted time during the designated week, observing birds and making a record of numbers of different species of birds seen. The results¬†will then be submitted to the RSPB to help them create an extensive national survey of bird species and their populations across the United Kingdom.

In preparation for their birdwatching the children need to be able to recognise several species of bird. Please use the links below to help you and your child practice identification skills.
