As we are in Winter our topic this half term is Polar Regions. We began sharing our prior knowledge about Penguins.

We discovered Emperor Penguins are the tallest type of Penguin and Mummy and Daddy Penguin take turns holding the egg by balancing it on their feet. In P.E we explored balancing a bean bag whilst traveling across a bench. It wasn’t easy!

In Math’s we have been estimating and then check by counting using sugar cubes. We then used the cubes to make a miniature igloo.

To our amazement we encountered two Penguins frozen in ice.

We discussed why the penguins were stuck in the ice.

We then discussed various ways of rescuing the Penguins.

Finally we worked together using a range of tools and grit to save the Penguins. Well done children!!
