Today class 5/6F took their first potions lesson with Severus Snape (who looked and sounded surprisingly like Mr Fletcher).
As a class we were looking at how to use negative numbers in context, and calculate intervals
across zero, so why not do it in a Harry Potter style? The children thoroughly enjoyed the idea and got to grips with using a cauldron and ice and fire cubes to increase and decrease the temperature – just like one of Snape’s potions lessons. After the initial input phase of learning, the children got to work on creating and solving their own number sentences using the cubes and a cauldron of their own. It was clear that the children possessed a good understanding of the topic area and applied effectively in their teams. Below are some photos of the session with a couple of Harry Potter lookalikes thrown in there for fun!
