Basketball Posts Have Instant Impact

Year Six children had a reason to celebrate this week after winning the Oldham Schools Basketball Competition on Monday afternoon. Basketball fever has hit the school since the summer installation of high quality basketball posts on the junior playground. Children have been literally pounding the court at break and lunchtime, honing their skills and knowledge of the game.

The sport has also been a firm fixture in the PE curriculum in the first autumn term, which has led to a greater understanding and enthusiasm for the sport. The team will now go forward to the Manchester Youth Games (dates to be confirmed) to represent Oldham against all of the other Manchester boroughs. This is in addition to the school rugby team who have also achieved the same success!

Well done to all of those children involved, who have been great role models and representatives of the school so far!
