Music in Class 5/6F
This half term we are looking at the idea of adventure in music. To do this we have been looking at the ‘In the Hall of the Mountain King’ by Edvard Grieg which depicts the adventures of Peer Gynt. So far the children have appraised the piece through listening activities and have represented this through discussion, word association and drawings.
Above is thinking board whilst listening to the piece. Below is a picture to represent the music after listening.
We have also had some time to experiment with some of the techniques used within the piece and reproduce our own compositions. These techniques have included alternating notes to create pattern and ascending and descending scales with crescendo (gradually getting louder) and accelerando (gradually getting faster). The children also enjoyed using their own instruments such as guitar to practice the techniques.
