“London’s Burning”

Year 1/2 set off for the forest this morning expecting to make a model of London in the 17th Century but when they got there …

… Mrs George had set up a fire bowl!  She explained how fire can be used safely in the forest.  Then, she set a fire using Silver Birch bark, fairy blankets, dry leaves and different sizes of very dry sticks.

So, we didn’t recreate London, we recreated The Great Fire of London,  burning some of the paper Tudor house models we had made yesterday!

Then Mrs George showed us how to put out the fire safely, making sure it was completely out and leaving no trace to disturb the forest animals.

We had an amazing time and learned lots!

Thank you Mrs George!
