    Playing card games!

    We have begun this term’s instructional writing by learning to play the card game Sevens. It gave us the opportunity to follow a set of instructions and think carefully about the language and features of this type of text. We had lots of fun!

    Narrative writing

    This term in English, we have been looking at narratives. As a class, we read Michael Morpurgo’s The Giant’s Necklace and learned how the author had used Cornish dialect to convey the characters of the miners. We then wrote our own stories and shared them as a class.

    Maths Board Games

    Year 5 have worked collaboratively to design and make their own maths board games. They then wrote instructions and played them alongside Year 4/5, who kindly evaluated the games and offered feedback. It is safe to say they were a great success!  Year 5 have shown tremendous creativity and independence. Well done everyone.

    Volcano Assembly

    On Friday the 10th of March Year 5/6 presented an assembly on Volcanoes and Earthquakes. Amy and Mia preformed their PowerPoint presentation, Jack and Seth read their prayer to the school. Brianna, Scarlet and Cameron erupted their model volcanoes (using baking soda and vinegar). It was amazing! By Cole and Harvey.
