St. Chad's Church of England Primary School
Road Closure - first two weeks of term
Written by Administrator

Please be aware that Church Road will remain closed to vehicles for the next two weeks and diversion routes are currently in operation (In via - Greenfield to Church Road and out via Church Road and Ward Lane, Diggle). Please take care as these are minor country roads, unsuitable in many places along the route for two way traffic.  Should you prefer not to drive on these roads there is plenty of parking available at the swimming baths/ Uppermill Sports Club with access to the bridle path, Bagnall Close and Rhodes Avenue. There is also pedestrian access on Church Road from the village.

Saddleworth Olympics - Uppermill Team Training

Training has started for the Uppermill Team for the Saddleworth Olympics which will take place between 6th September and 21st September 2014.  There are events and sports for children aged 7 to 16 years (age as at 31st August 2014).  The Olympics represents a fantastic opportunity to get your child involved in sports throughout the summer months culminating in their participation in the Village Olympics in September!  Children of all age groups and abilities are welcomed to join in. Further details are available from the Saddleworth Olympics site

WINNERS of the Saddleworth Junior Schools Track and Field Event

Well done to St Chad's who won the Saddleworth Junior Schools Track and Field Event at Churchill Playing Fields School on Saturday 12th July 2014.

Road Closure - Friday 4th July onwards

We have had information that the sewer works will move this week to New Street, with the diversion up the bottom of Church Road passed the Methodist Church.  There will be traffic lights in the village to facilitate this, which will impact upon your journey both to and from school.  Please take this into consideration and allow extra time.

We have received the letter below, containing a map, from United Utilities. Please click on the link to view it.

Scarlet Fever

We have received notification from Public Health informing us of a national rise in Scarlet Fever particularly affecting children, and Greater Manchester is also seeing an increase in the number of cases being notified.

‘Any child with a rash and fever should be excluded from school and advised to see their GP. Children who have been diagnosed with Scarlet Fever by their doctor can return to school when they have been on antibiotics for 24 hours.’
