Spanish
At St Chad's, Spanish is taught throughout Key Stage 2, providing pupils with the opportunity to develop their understanding of a modern foreign language and broaden their awareness of other cultures. Children begin by learning and recalling key vocabulary and simple phrases before progressing to applying their language skills in a range of practical situations. Lessons are engaging and interactive, with pupils learning through songs, games, role-play and conversations that build confidence in speaking and listening. To support long-term retention, every lesson begins with retrieval activities that revisit and reinforce previously learned vocabulary and language structures. We are also proud to work in partnership with Saddleworth Language School, who provide an after-school Spanish club, offering pupils an additional opportunity to develop their language skills and enthusiasm for learning Spanish.
